Ajen Getaway: Casamorella - Ajen

Ajen Getaway: Casamorella

Near the hills of Ostuni, Puglia’s Città Bianca, we find Casamorella. Built with the warm textures of the earth, it’s carved directly into the landscape that’s defined by centuries-old olive trees, dry soil, and deep red earth.

A great example of a place where architecture does not compete with nature but frames it instead.

Design details we love

• The tactile stonework

Coarse, dry-stacked local stone walls that bring the authentic, rugged texture of Puglia right into the living space. It feels raw, authentic and bold.

• The warm limestone floors

Warm tones, but cool to the touch; the best of both worlds under the Italian sun. The large, earth-toned stone tiles that ground the entire interior literally make the place feel grounded.

• The seamless indoor-outdoor flow

Expansive glass walls that frame the Valle d'Itria, making the surrounding olive groves feel like an extension of the room.

The materials

The raw architecture of Casamorella is one you can feel. By using a strict, limited palette of unrefined materials, the house feels like you’re out in nature even when you’re inside. The exterior is finished in a traditional, local plaster that catches the intense southern Italian light, while inside, the earth-toned limestone tiles feels cool underfoot (a welcome relief from the Puglian heat).

There are no distracting details. Instead, the textures guide your eye: the rough grain of exposed natural stone walls invites you to touch them, while monumental windows open the house entirely to the views. It is the ultimate luxury of having nothing around you but light, space, and a magnificent pool.

Thoughtful routines

Casamorella was built around the concept of slowing down and returning to simple daily rhythms. Every object and material has been curated with a clear purpose, balancing high-end design with functional honesty.

It is exactly this environment that matches the philosophy of Ajen. Within these stone walls, a daily routine becomes a conscious moment of pause. Waking up with the sun, opening the large windows to the dry hillside air, and washing your hands with botanical scents: another aspect of this place to connect the space directly to the wild nature outside.

Casamorella shows us that luxury is not about adding more; it is about knowing what to leave out.
