Ajen Getaway: Ca'Mur

Ajen Getaway: Ca'Mur

A house on an island. A place to slow down.

Set in the volcanic landscape of Lanzarote, Ca’Mur describes itself simply as Una Casa en una Isla: a house on an island. And perhaps that simplicity is exactly what makes it so special.

A different rhythm

Black volcanic earth. Whitewashed houses. The Atlantic stretching towards the horizon. Wind moving through a landscape.

Ca’Mur carries that same sense of nature inside. Clean architecture and natural textures create spaces that feel considered, and the brightness of the white house in contrast to the dark soil of the volcanic island set the tone.

Designed around its surroundings

What we love most about Ca’Mur is the relationship between inside and outside.

Rather than shutting out Lanzarote’s raw landscape, the house seems to frame it. The volcanic terrain, ocean views and changing island light become part of the interior.

There is a restraint to it that feels very Ajen: choosing fewer things, choosing them well, and allowing natural materials and thoughtful design to speak for themselves. As Raúl, one of the owners of Ca'Mur puts it, choosing Ajen was about more than what to place in the bathroom.

“At Ca’Mur Lanzarote, everything is guided by a deep respect for nature and a slower way of living. From the architecture to the scents in the space, every choice is made to feel connected to the island.
Ajen’s botanical care felt like a natural extension of that philosophy. After introducing it, we noticed how guests were enchanted. Small details, but ones that make a stay feel grounded, intentional and more connected to Lanzarote.”

An island to explore slowly

Of course, eventually, Ca’Mur will tempt you outside.

Lanzarote is an island shaped by fire, wind and sea, with a landscape unlike almost anywhere else in Europe. Drive through its volcanic interior, find a quiet stretch of coast, stop for lunch somewhere small, or simply follow the road without deciding too much beforehand.

And then return.

Back to Ca’Mur, where the pace drops again.

A shower. Something cold to drink. The last light disappearing over the island.

Sometimes the best places to stay are the ones that remind us how little we actually need.
